Polar Express

Last Night we got to go with some of the family to Williams, AZ to ride the Polar Express train to the North Pole!

Here are some pictures of our trip! (to see all pictures, go to our website)

We had a blast! We got to drink Hot Chocolate, eat Cookies, Sing Carols, Read the Polar Express book, and Meet Santa!
Some of my favorite highlights were:
Sitting on the train, Brianna talking to Hyrum "How can we get ALLLLLL the way to the North Pole tonight?" Hyrum back to Brianna "They said this train goes as fast as Santa's sleigh so it only takes an hour and a half!"
and Coley once we arrived at the North Pole looks at me with a know-it-all face and doubting voice says "Is this reallllly the North Pole?" And I say, "Well, the story says you have to believe for it to be real, so do YOU believe?" and he says "Yeah, I believe."

This Past Weekend

This past weekend we had Alan's mom visiting. We were able to spend a nice (early) Christmas with her and have a relaxing weekend. Friday night we hung out around the house and then Saturday was full of family fun and dinner. We made it to see I am Legend on Saturday night and while I think it was a good movie, it was WAY too scary for me. Poor Alan never gets to see scary movies unless he goes with his brother in laws cause there is no way I will walk into one. I thought I am Legend wouldnt be so scary but there are things like zombies that wanna eat you and suck your blood and I'm not at all in liking with those things. Call me a wimp or whatever you'd like, but I'm totally serious. It was a good movie and I recommend seeing it if you aren't a baby like me. I had my eyes in Alan's shoulder 70% of the movie. Kim (Alan's mom) and I were able to convince Alan to go to Walmart at 9:00pm to pick out some bedroom stuff for Kim's house and we had a blast. I'm sure if you asked Alan what he thought about it, not so much, but he was a great sport. We got Kim a perfect bed comforter set and some towels to match for her Master Bath and we had so much fun setting it all up in the house. For any of you that don't know, I'm pretty obsessed with new houses and decorating them, so for me I was playing new house again getting to help Kim! I told her she is going to have to control me once she moves out here and actually wants to get it all put together! So, all in all, we had a nice, quiet but exciting weekend with Kim. Tonight the family is going to the play "Forgotten Carols" thanks to Mom/Dad Bennett and tomorrow we get to go on the Polar Express! We are going to be busy from this past weekend until the second weekend in January but isn't that what the holidays are for? :)

Holidays

I LOVE the holidays! It all starts around Halloween, which is my favorite holiday, I love dressing up and taking nieces and nephews around trick or treating. Even though I'm not too fond of scary movies, I love scary decorations and the whole Halloween scene. It seems like right after Halloween we start preparing for Thanksgiving. The Fall season is in full bloom by then and the weather has cooled off. We get to prepare a feast of all kinds of food and gather with family. Immediately after Thanksgiving, Christmas has already started. Stores have there Christmas items up and if your like my sister Sarah the day you leave out of town for Thanksgiving your Thanksgiving decorations are down and your Christmas ones are up even if its still November. :) Christmas time is always a great time to reflect on the previous year and your blessings. Each year while writing our Christmas card, I get to reflect on the year before and think about how blessed we are. This Christmas like most Christmas' we get to spend it with our family. I think the holidays are exactly for that, family. Alan and I are so greatful for the families we were placed in and we are so blessed to be able to spend the holidays with them.

Spring (Winter) Cleaning

I dont know WHY but I'm not a big fan at all of cleaning. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind keeping the house clean, doing the laundry, the dishes and picking up after myself and Alan, all the normal cleaning stuff and our house is normally very clean but I do not like scrubbing or actually thinking of having to go home from work and clean, which happens to be today.

Friday we have Alan's mom coming into town for the weekend to have an early Christmas with us. It will be nice to have her here to spend time with us and hang out which means the house needs to be spotless and when I say spotless, I dont mean the normal cleaning we do all the time I mean spring, or in this case, winter cleaning. We are going to get crazy like moving furniture crazy and everything out of shelves crazy. I know once I'm home and actually doing it I 'll be glad and will feel a ton better once its done, but for now I'm not a big fan of thinking about it.

Lucky for me, I have a great husband that totally helps and involves himself in the dreaded cleaning. Sometimes I'll come home late from school and he will suprise me and have the house clean. Those are the best cleaning days, ones I dont even have to think about! So just maybe....if I stay at work late enough today....just kidding. Today is dreaded cleaning day. I know there are worst things than cleaning so I'll buck up and do it. :)

It's Official

Yep, I started a blog. My sister-in-law Megan has had one for awhile now and its always fun to get on and read her blogs and other blogs so I decided, why not? Then after Christmas cards started rolling in and I noticed everyone put links to their blog on them, I couldn't resist. Blogging is a great way to keep in touch with relatives and friends without the drama of another site like myspace or facebook. So, here I am. (just waiting for you now Lindsay!) I'm not sure I'll have enough to say to be entertaining but it's worth a shot! So Welcome to my blog!
